Old Geneva Basin Ski Area

Does anyone know how much snow is up there now? For those who are unfamiliar it is off of Guanella Pass on the Grant side. Thx!

Not answering your question, but last summer we saw an unending series of big trucks hauling rock into the Geneva Basin road for some reason. They were coming over the pass from the north side, about one per minute all day. This was just a few days before the rockslide closed the north side. If you do go there, look around for a huge pile of rock - I'm really curious what was going on there.

Jim if we go up I will let you know. We're only going if there is snow.

Please report back on the snow and how far you are able to get driving.

was up there 3 days this week. snowpack is very thin, and had slab conditions on top of loose granular sugar snow.

Thanks! We did go up there at night. It was snowing and we ended up in the trees and not on the slopes. The snow was deeper where we were. We zigged when we should have zagged at mile marker 14. Couldn't see crap with the snow pounding us in the face. Ah well. Next time.
