Where do you get mushrooms that last for five days?

It doesn't occur to you that he could carry some with him?

I carry beer, and not just one. Mushrooms are very efficient comparatively.

This sounds more like a Peyote story to me...
Nobody climbs 14ers anymore, they’re too crowded.

Kinda reminds me of the time those guys got lost on Mt. Sanitas and had to call SAR.

Too bad the 9,000 people on the trail were of no help.

When I saw the headline, I thought (verbatim) the exact same thing...

Those weren't people on the trail. They were ants. Wait. No. Caterpillars. Which turned into butterflies, but then became wild dogs searching for food. And he was a pork chop. Hiding. Then turned invisible. Very lucky to make it out alive.

Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

A followup of sorts:

https://gearjunkie.com/hiker-found-dead ... rk-reserve
In February, Bryan Skilinski, 40, was rescued from Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park. The New York resident had spent five nights in freezing temps with no survival gear.

Three months later, he returned. Only this time he wasn’t so lucky.

Hikers found Skilinski’s body on June 28. But while there were clues to his time in the park, his death raises questions.

Apparently Mr. Skilinski had some unfinished business to resolve. May he find in death the peace that seems to have eluded him in this life. Condolences to his family and friends.

One of the more bizarre threads I've encountered on 14ers.com...7-10 minutes well spent =D>

I agree, this one is strange. It really seems like he was searching for something, more likely internally than externally. Hopefully he's at peace now.
