Major parts of both Section 16 and Captain Jacks are closed?
Actually they're only closed in a legal sense, as there's no enforcement or signage. Those two trails also aren't part of the proposed permanent closure, neither are the two motorized trails from Frosty's Park, or lower Bear Creek trail and High Drive (for hikers and bikers, at least). FS needs to reopen much of this stuff, since the flooding crisis is over, but bureaucratic inertia is at work. There's really not any great danger to hikers at this point, no more than there normally is.
Go to the meeting in two weeks and express your opinion, or submit comments. Maybe they won't totally ignore the public comments like they did last year.
The trail segment that goes up from Gold Camp Road to the Buckhorn trail isn't on the map because it isn't a system trail, so can't really be "closed" as it officially doesn't exist.
