The Outside article was written by the same person writing the ESPN article. She goes more in-depth in the Outside article about the decision making of the group that day on Steven's Pass. To sum it up: Since everyone in the group was very experienced, no one brought up their concerns, assuming that everyone else knew what they were doing. The combination of experience and group-think worked against them.
