Early season turns thread

Postby Carl » Sun Oct 24, 2010 9:55 pm

Thought we needed a thread with some ski pics! Who got out this weekend? Pictures?

Ben (aka Benners), Dayna, and I hit up Berthoud today. The pictures make it look a little better than it was :D

^^^ Nice! Heard it wasn't too crowded. If that was A-Basin you wouldn't dare have Lauren stop on the WROD for a photo.

I really wanted to get out, but unfortunately, I was stuck working various projects around the house all weekend.

Wow, Carl, between this and the Kelso ridge incident, you had a busy weekend!!!

Skied my own personal WROD yesterday in the Mosquito. It was ridiculous. Got about 1000' vert though.

Yeah, my wife wanted to climb and ski yesterday so I happily obliged. Thankfully it was a pretty mellow day: low angle turns at Berthoud in the morning followed by some easy climbing at North Table in the afternoon.

Jesse, that's one heck of a WROD you got after!

Here's one of Wesley from yesterday:

Again, it would be a mistake to believe the snow is as plentiful as it appears...

Montezuma was good all weekend. Sunday the hike up had snow up to mid thigh deep. The skiing was great.

Didn't mean to limit the thread to just pics. If you've got a video, sweet! How far up the road could you make it in your Jeep? Probably going to check out that area when we're in Aspen in a couple weeks.

I do not have the video.

I was able to make it to just before the last long switch back before the parking area at the top. With the snow overnight and today you will have to park much lower down.

Now, this may inspire jealousy, but I must share the current Wasatch conditions:

Unfortunately I haven't been able to call in sick and sample the goods yet, so I'm just as jealous. Will be getting out tomorrow for whatever is left!

It seems like this last storm has it going off everywhere. I've been seeing amazing early-season TRs from Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado.
