I was wondering if anyone knew what the conditions for Greys and Torreys peaks are? I did Greys earlyer this year in Feburary so I am not new to hinking in the show and do have microspike (certainly planning to bing them).

A side note I was wondering if you all think that a Subaru Impreza can make it up the road to the summer trailhead or if I should use my buddys jeep to get up there?

Many thanks for the info. Ill certainly post a trip repot upon my return.

would be shocked if you could make it up there with anything right now with the snow and wind we have had in the last 24 hrs

Wow sounds pretty gnarly, noaa.gov says that its been getting up to the low 40's so I though that the snow on the road might have a chance to melt. I guess the wind chill prrevents that from happening.

SKIBREC - Have you all gotten alot of snow in the past day?

Rangerrat,

I was up on Sniktau today and had a solid view of Torreys. The snow didn't look too bad, nor was it too bad on the Sniktau trail. Very wind scoured, but never more than a couple inches deep on the trail.

Thanks! Am geared up for the worst and have dry socks, spare layers, food, water and my micro spikes! Also will test out the new Garmin Fenix I just got and give a review after a few weeks.

Headed up Grays yesterday. We got to upper parking lot around 0830. The road heading up has some ice on it, which happens to be around a curve so it is very unlikely to get a non-4x4 up to the upper parking lot. One guy tried in his civic and ended up having to turn around and park at the lower lot and hike it up as he was slipping all over. I wonder though with a few more warm days if it would be doable come this weekend. Seems many patches of the road cleared up after the sun hit them today. Just the areas in the shadow of the trees that are still snowy and iced up.

Heading up to the peak yesterday we had perfect weather. Almost no wind to speak of and nothing but sun! Temp at the top was in the high 40's. Temp down below was in the 60's.

Would suggest due to the snow still on the mountain and some icy conditions here and there to make sure to bring poles and microspikes at this point.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!
