Thx!!!

Just came down from the flat tops yesterday from first elk season and every mountain top is covered in snow. Daly and Capitol are both covered on the north.

Taken yesterday. Not terribly detailed beta but it'll give you an idea:

for what it's worth we did capitol is similar conditions a few years back and took the ridge from the capitol daly saddle to k2, then stayed on the ridge from there straight to the summit. For the descent we went down the standard route and it was a nightmare of about 12" of unconsolidated snow, some ice underneath, and verglas ledges. I always felt that it would have been much easier to just reverse the route and stick to the ridges and avoid the hassle and fright of scary snow.

I summited on the 21st (Sunday). I was the only person on the peak. There were some relatively fresh tracks in the snow part of the way, but the last person to sign the register before me was on 9/23/12. The powdery snow made discerning the standard route difficult, so I mostly 3rd/4th classed it along the ridge. I returned along the cairns in the talus field, which was miserable boulder hopping to avoid hidden voids. Total time on the mountain was 8 hours. The 6.5 hours back made it a long day. My quads are still sore!
