Re: Sangre de Cristo Conditions
I went up there on Sunday. Easy snow from the upper lake to the west ridge. Looking down on the lake from the Humboldt/Obstruction saddle. There was a thick layer of ice under the snow. Microspikes came in handy.llamaman wrote:Can anybody tell me what the snow conditions are like on the climb from the upper South Colony Lake to gain Humboldt's west ridge? Is it holding a lot of snow? Trying to decide if it's worth trying or if we should head somewhere else.

Great Pics!!!! Did you happen to get any pics of the KC avenue conditions? I'm hoping to head up there in a few weeks and I am interested to see how it's melting off!kimo wrote:I went up there on Sunday. Easy snow from the upper lake to the west ridge. Re: Sangre de Cristo Conditions
Thanks for all the updates, looking forward to a fun weekend down there, hopefully the wind isn't too bad (forecast at 35-45mph gusts).
Baked Potato, the Sangres are actually below average for snowpack, really the only place in the state. Not saying the coulier is going to be perfectly safe, but not as much snow down there as up North and in the other ranges.
