Spring Training

Postby Chicalorado » Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:15 am

Baseball is back. We can finally talk about "games" again instead of just steroids, A-Rod, the Yankees signing everybody, Manny still available, Bonds, etc.

Who else here is a big baseball fan? Who's going to win it all this year?

I pick the Cubs. :D [-o< Next year is here.

I want the Cubs to win it all, but I am not going to "pick" them to win it all so I don't jinx them again

Cubs good, but not good enough, again!

Manny lands back with the boys in Blue, Dodgers/Angels for the Series.

I was hoping Maddux would've stuck around another year to try to pass Spahn for modern era wins (he needed 9). I grew up a Tigers fan but man did they face plant last year after acquiring Dontrelle Willis and Cabrera. There's nothing worse than having your team basically out of it before Memorial Day - makes for a long sports summer.

Not to rub it in, but I predicted you guys in the Series last year. What happened???
And I know all about being out of it by Memorial Day, I am a Cubs fan after all.

Question is, once Manny gets paid, is he going to play out of his mind like he did last year with the promise of a new contract?

Are you affiliated with Sports Illustrated? Then I would be concerned. :)

Ahh, it feels good to talk baseball again.

So true! I flinch every time they talk about the Cubs going all the way! I am actually hoping the the addition of Milton Bradley will put some fire in their bellies, they need someone with an attitude :D

My husband and I are NY Mets fans. They move into the new stadium this year. Our only hope is that they finish better than they have the past two years (as I gaze at the post above mine). :?
As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. Maybe since 2007, but you have to get to the playoffs first before you can choke  (Our self-deprecating sense of humor is what makes a lifetime of futility so bearable)

Oman, are you a Cards fan, or just stirring the pot? :?:
