Literally was just about to post this - and I'm just hoping to be able to make it up Quandary at 80!! :wft:
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

I remember reading a post a few years ago about an 80 plus year old woman who summit-ed a 14er...any idea who the oldest person is to do it?

I do not know who is oldest to climb a 14er, but William Butler climbed Longs at age 85 and Longs is one of the more challenging of the 14ers.
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Wait, isn't Miura the same guy who skied Everest in the 70's? There's a documentary about him.

Im just hoping I can make it up Grays this summer. And Im 26!
I would rather sit on a mountain and think about God than sit in church and think about the mountains.

I've had numerous (now ex-) friends email this story to me since I'm 51 and failed to summit Kilimanjaro last year.

Yes, it says so at the end of the article

It won the Oscar for best documentary in 1976. It's on youtube in 8 parts.

That is a scary movie, listening to his breathing is intense. When I first watched it I thought I just watched a man die, more like falling down Everest, not skiing it. Climbing Everest at that age is amazing!
