If you hike across to Hellbronner you should consider doing the Tour Ronde on the other side, There is an alternate than the North Face that goes up a ridge and is quite mellow. I boiled all my water and was fine. Have a good trip.

From what I gather, is the main climbing season on Mont Blanc summer through September, with October being a bit too late and risky with respect to weather? Or would October be a viable timeframe to consider?

Just got back from 2 weeks climbing in the Alps, and got to the top of Mont Blanc. A little chilly. :)

The info you guys posted here helped quite a bit. It's funny, once you get someplace and see it then it makes so much more sense. But beforehand it all seems very vague.

Anyway, I'll be writing up some TRs one of these days... It was amazing. After growing up in CO I thought I knew what mountains were, then I climbed Rainier and it blew my mind. And then I went to the Alps and again was astounded.
I can only imagine what the Himalaya must be like.
