Best way to get down Everest

Postby MuchosPixels » Wed May 29, 2013 5:52 am

Hi, I just this video: HERE

I must say, WOW. Base Jumping is dangerous but climbing down Everest is too. This guy just made an amazing feat. I am sure he is not going to be the last one.

Not impressed! Steve McKinney hang glided from about the same height almost 20 years ago. Certainly no where near the top, 23,000 ft.

Pfft that's nothin compared to this one!

Here's another goody too from the same guy who did the Everest Base Jump:

• It's by getting away from life that we can see it most clearly... It's by depriving ourselves of the myriad of everyday experiences that we renew our appreciation for them...I've learned from my experiences in the mountains that I love life. — Dave Johnston
• Mountains are not climbed merely to reach a geographical location — but as personal and spiritual challenges to the participants. — David Stein
• The best climber in the world is the one who’s having the most fun.— Alex Lowe
• Why do I climb the mountain? Because I'm in love! — The Captain

Or the first. Jean-Marc Boivin, in 1988, flew a paraglider from the summit to Camp 2 (south) in 12 minutes. I guess it wasn't a "BASE jump" since he just took a running start off the summit ridge.

Note that this guy started from 7300 meters, nowhere near the summit. I want to see someone BASE jump the east face from the summit - that would be impressive.

Besides, McConkey would have ski-based it with a double backflip.

I imagine base jumping from the summit of Everest would be way hard......as you got to have 90 degree vertical relief....

But that being said....I fully support the idea....way better then installing permanent ladders near the summit. ](*,) ](*,)
