Book Suggestions

I'm looking for book suggestions for my sister's birthday present. Perhaps a book focused on female endeavors in the outdoors. Anyone have any suggestions?

I really enjoyed Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It's a memoir of the author's through-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail (with a lot of her personal back-story and struggles sprinkled in).

The social struggles seemed almost as insurmountable as the mountain! A damn fine read.

Great suggestion by Wooderson, I agree completely ! Kiefer offers a great suggestion as well. I enjoyed both of them.

+1 on Jennifer Jordan's book.

I also enjoyed Clouds From Both Sides by Julie Tullis: http://www.amazon.com/Clouds-From-Sides-Julie-Tullis/dp/0871567164/ref=cm_lmf_tit_8

A friend loaned me this book recently and I have to say I was disappointed she always "skirted" the "socked in areas". I guess I have come to expect death defying “frozen-ness” these days. The personal stories wooderson notes caught me by surprise at times. I enjoyed the reminders of things I do appreciate about men.

I would add…

Women on High: Pioneers of Mountaineering by Rebecca A. Brown.

It is a bit thick to read, but the history is worthy. I still can’t imagine the wardrobe!
