I'll always be partial to Slaughterhouse Five, but this one - Breakfast of Champions - is one of his best! Written 40 years ago, yet, on page 32 he notes:
"Earthlings went on being friendly, when they should have been thinking instead. And even when they built computers to do some thinking for them, they designed them not so much for wisdom as for friendliness."
That was 1973: 30 years before MySpace, 31 years before Facebook, 33 years before Twitter. ?? years before 14ers.com (I don't know, there is no Wiki page for 14ers.com). Quotes like that make me wonder if he made up all that stuff about Tralfamadore - or if he lived it!
The comments about beavers and gold always cracked me up. It's still true today.
