Are snow, skiing, and winter massively overrated?
- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers
- Courage cannot be bought at REI or carried with you in your rucksack

Coming out of the winter months, I can't find any current information about a 14er on this popular and heavily-frequented 14er-oriented website.

Do I have to take anything beyond my normal summer hiking kit?

The question is "Should I delete this thread?"

Does Bill err, occasionally?
I am unable to walk away from the mountain without climbing it. An unclimbed mountain tugs at my consciousness with the eternal weight of time itself. Until I've pressed my face into it's alpine winds, hugged it's ancient granite walls, and put it's weathered summit beneath my heal I'm unable to resist it's attraction.Knowing nature gives the mountain more time than she gives us adds urgency to the obsession. As has been said before; the mountain doesn't care.

It can wait forever. I cannot.

Not in my mind. Although my family may feel differently

Deleting is too strong an action... locking - that's your call. Some thread necromancy is fun to read after a couple of years gone.

Actually, I don't care. We all know I'm too lazy to moderate and these threads go on for years and years. I do make mistakes almost every day - just this morning I decided to stay home and make that landfill run that I've been putting off when I really should have skied the 4th of July Bowl instead. Stupid

Will BillMiddlebrook delete my avatar again?

Edit update - While I am not hiking as much as I used to (my late 60's knees complain
too much) I LOVE this site. Bill M. - you are a big reason why.

Now, can I have my avatar back?

I have no idea what you're talking about.
