Top-10 dream peak list

If money and skills were no object, what would be your top-10 list of 'dream climbs' to do?

Interesting question...here's a tentative list off the top of my head, in no particular order:

Aconcagua
Aoraki/Mt. Cook
Ama Dablam
Laila Peak
Orizaba
Grand Teton
Grauspitz (Liechtenstein's highpoint)
Fairweather
Cerro Torre
Damavand
Denali (yes, I know that's 11)

Oh, and I'd love to climb pre-1980 Mt. St. Helens--can I count that? :wink:

1. Ama Dablam: trekked past this enroute to Everest base camp a few years ago. So beautiful!
2. Everest: Because it's there.
3. K2: Bragging rights!
4. Island Peak: A nice little hill in the shadow of giants.
5. Mt. Hood: Sister lives nearby, so I might actually be able to pull this one off some day.
6. Denali: Alaska calls us all.
7. Mt. Kilimanjaro: Friends have been there, it's my turn.

You did say "Dream Peak List", right? :D

8. Mons Huygens, (3.4 mi) tallest mountain on the moon. Does a morning "Earthrise" assent cast any alpenglow?
9. Olympic Mons, (14 mi) tallest mountain on Mars. If you're gonna aim high, aim for the highest!
10. Aeolis Mons ("Mount Sharp") (3 mi), now famous due to JPL's Curiosity rover. I'd like a "hero pic" next to the rover!

Let's see if I can come up with 10. Hmm...

1. Aconcagua
2. Mt. Rainier
3. Mt. Hood
4. Mount Ngauruhoe (Mt. Doom - I'm a big LOTR nerd)
5. Castle Peak (I have a score to settle!)

7. Vinson Massif
8. Denali
9. Grand Teton
10. Tal Caradhras (Someone needs to make it to the top! The fellowship sure didn't make it.)

Yes, one is fictional, but it would be cool to be able to climb it! I suppose that concludes my 10.

My wish list is below, though Khan Tengri and/or Pik Pobeda would bump Mustag Ata out of the running:

These are my remaining top 10, as I already completed many on the old top 10 list.

I'm not doing so well on the newer top 10 list, but that's OK. I've only completed one on the new top 20 list.

I was going to attempt Ama Dablam this year, but Kessler begged me to take him to the Himalaya with me. Intead of attempting Ama Dablam without him, I'll attempt Chukking and Kala Pattar with him.

For those with realistic top 10 list (ones you think you can complete), if we have any in common with each other, let's plan some trips!
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

This is a good thread, and a tough one. Soooo, I'll list off those peaks that I plan on doing within the next 12 months so they don't take up room on my 10 :D

This top 10 dream list assumes I ever get to the point of being able to pull this off, obviously...

4. Yerupaja (or Suila Grande - "Avoiding the Touch")
5. Everest - Alpine Style via Mallory & Irvine's North Route
6. Gasherbrum II - Unguided with a group of friends
7. The Eiger - Nordwand
8. Mt Olympus (Washington State)
9. ***Anything off of the North America Fifty Classic List in Alaksa***
10. MASHERBRUM

Kiefer - Hummingbird Ridge still hasn't seen a second ascent yet has it?

It has not, but it's sure killed a lot of climbers, including world class high altitude mountaineers. I can't even imagine falling to your death while asleep :wft: :shock:

Yep. You're right Brian. Hummingbird has never been repeated.
First climbed in the mid-1960's and never since. Mugs Stump tried and even he was denied. There was another
party of 2 that tried back in 1987(?) but were never heard from again.

The ridge alone I believe demands a commitment of roughly 30 days. Some serious, bad-ass stuff in BC.
