Postby Mountain Ninja » Tue May 01, 2012 5:04 pm

Who would like to share with the class their summer 2012 goals?

longs is my biggest goal, and assuming longs goes ok for me, id like to get the crestones as well. my experience is only walkups for now.

i want to climb the entire sawatch range, as well as finishing the front (longs, pikes, evans). also castle + conundrum and sherman

id like to go down to the san juans at some point and do a couple of the easy ones and just check out the range, as i havent been there yet.

main goal though is to have fun and be safe

Finish.
Save a place for me up in the high country.

Keep helping my wife catch up to me (she's currently 8 behind). Maybe climb two new ones myself (Mt Wilson and El Diente) to catch up to my age. However, I'd be happy just to be healthy and able to climb the same old routes, which wasn't true at the end of last summer.

Finish the 53/54 ranked 14ers.

Knock off the remaining dozen or so "non-ridiculous" centennials I have left.

Take at least a couple trips to the Sangres. In addition to the two centennials I have remaining there are several appealing ridge hikes where one can bag multiple lower 13ers.

Sawatch: Only stuff I'm really interested in are the 13ers around Holy Cross, Iowa/Emerald, and Aetna.

Gores: Eagles Nest, C, East Partner and a couple others I haven't decided on yet.

Find a real job. This is going to to be the hardest one.

I'm mostly stuck along the front range, and my primary goal is to avoid the crowds!

Specifically?

Bankcroft east ridge, never summer traverse, pagoda peak, and I know I said avoid crowds, but it would be nice to get up longs as well

Finish my last 17 or so ranked Indian Peaks Wilderness summits. Thats it for this summer.

I figure since my wife is due in July for our first kid, I should keep the goal somewhat minimal.

If I can stay healthy:

1. Finish the 14ers
2. Sub 6 hour Leadville Trail Marathon

It's hammer time.

Primary goal: get the flatlanders above 13K and 14K elevations this September. Everything else is gravy...

Oh boy! I have a spreadsheet if you wanna see! It can be sorted by difficulty, approach, altitude or approximate drive time from Fort Collins!

The biggens'

1. Kieners
2. North Buttress - Pagoda
3. North Face - Lone Eagle
4. The Matron
5. The Maiden
6. West Ridge - The Spearhead
7. Upper Exum - The Grand
8. Emmons glacier - Rainier
9. Snow field and North Face - Navajo
10. Either west ridge on Mt. Stewart or undecided route on Mt. Shuksan

Would like to, but don't really see happening

10. North Butress - Mt Sneffels
11. Ellingwood Arete - The Needle
The mountains - whose summits reach or exceed arbitrary thresholds for elevation and prominence - are calling and I must go.

-John Muir
