Dudes with the keg on Princeton

Postby semitrueskerm » Sat Jul 30, 2011 4:18 pm

Just wondering if the dudes carrying up the keg Egyptian style made it to the summit...and back down safely today.
Also curious if they were able to kill the keg on top and if it was still cold...

Negative, ghostrider. I only smell of beer after a late night of excess, much to the chagrin of my climbing partners. I am curious however what it means to carry a keg Egyptian style. Perhaps I should start a club for card-carrying keg-carriers, or at the very least a secret society of mountain drunkards.

How long does it take for a keg to settle and if altitude has anything to do with it?

This is what the dudes had left to climb when I was descending.
They had already made it up to 13,100 FEET.

However, it was 10:30 AM and they were moving at snails pace, and I know the monsoon clouds where moving in...
That's why I wonder how if they made it. I'd also think a keg is a pretty good lightning conductor. That was my concern.
None the less, an impressive effort.

It's not a problem once you bleed the tap, which takes about a full minute due to the pressure build up.

I was told it was a Bachelor Party. One of the guys got engaged on the summit of Princeton, and this was how they were celebrating his Bachelor Party... They said they tried to hire strippers to come along...but none wanted to climb...

Seriously?!?....Doesn't anyone else see this as an issue with this? Is this really condoned in our sacred mountains? I can see the headlines..."3 drunk guys killed in lightning storm on Mt. "whatever"" Would it then be a tragedy?....or could we laugh at them and give them a Darwin Award?

Kinda surprised I'm the first in this thread to bring it up....

You didn't tell us what you're wearing so I can decide whether your geared up properly to listen to.

To be fair, semitrueskerm brought it up about a half hour before you did.

Was the shirtless guy wearing sunscreen?
