Looking for a 14er/13er guidebook? I recommend picking up a book written by Gerry Roach. Most of you probably know who he is and respect the information he has provided to the climbing community. His books are helpful for anyone heading out to Colorado’s highest peaks. I’ve seen countless hikers carrying Gerry’s 14er book on the trail or studying it at the trailhead. If you are going to climb these peaks, it’s vital that you know the way before hitting the trail and Gerry’s books make your preparation much easier. They are available at book stores or online using the links below.

More recently, Gerry teamed up with Larry Chapman at Fort Collins Video to produce two climbing videos. In 2003, they released "Longs Peak - The Mountain and Your Journeys" that provides a unique view of the Longs climbing experience. The beautiful fly-bys provide extra excitement.  And just recently, they released "Chicago Basin and its Fabulous Fourteeners!". The DVD provides a good look at Chicago Basin and the routes up Eolus, Sunlight, and Windom. Both DVDs are narrated by Gerry and provide great views plus route descriptions for these great peaks. A written route description is an important tool when climbing 14ers, but a narrated movie goes beyond the limited pages of a book.
